As the warm weather approaches us, it's time to shed the layers and embrace the radiant spirit of the season. And what better way to capture the essence of sun-kissed bliss than with a captivating fragrance? Fragrances have an incredible ability to transport us to sun-drenched beaches, blooming gardens, and carefree moments, evoking memories and emotions that linger long after the season has passed.
Summer is the ultimate season for light, floral and fresh scents. High temperatures definitely play a major role in a fragrance’s performance so it’s very important to pick a scent you like while being sure it will perform and last properly even when the heats are unbearable.
That being said, I made you the ultimate top 5 best summer fragrances for women, scents that will exaggerate feminine sides and tell a story about her.
1. Lancôme Idôle Nectar
A rose-oriented fragrance that came out about a year ago won the hearts and noses of many but in a very different way.
Lancome released another flanker of Idole called Idole Nectar, and what makes this perfume different and unique is that it has 3 types of roses in the opening that are very dominant throughout the entire lifespan of the fragrance.
The heart has caramel and popcorn notes and the base is vanilla.
The combination of roses and caramel gives an incredibly soft and almost gourmandy feel to the entire composition. I don’t sense the popcorn note in it, and I haven’t seen anyone who claims they do. However, that probably means that some properties of popcorn notes were used to manipulate and alter other scents.
The scent is bright, uplifting, and soft, making it perfect wear for any daytime occasion.
According to the reviews of others, this even made rose haters love it!
2. Valentino Donna Born In Roma Coral Fantasy
If you’re not much into white florals or rose-oriented scents but still want to wear something new on the market, then fruity Valentino Donna Born in Roma Coral Fantasy might be what you’re after!
It’s truly a beautiful composition that tells a story about sunsets in Eternal City, also known as Rome.
Born in Roma Coral Fantasy has a fruity opening dominated by the note of kiwi with the orange backbone.
The domination of kiwi never truly passes and stays around the radiating scent the entire time, but the jasmine from the heart declares this fragrance as a feminine masterpiece.
The base is made out of ambrette seeds and musk accords which makes the entire composition smooth.
Overall, Born in Roma Coral Fantasy is uplifting, and smooth and definitely has that tropical vibe that makes it perfect for summer.
The idea behind it is to portray the sunsets of Rome, and truth be told, I can’t picture a better occasion and time to wear it!
It’s safe to say that this perfume leans more towards the fruity category than floral, but either way, definitely a safe blind buy!
3. Dior Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet
One of the most mass-appealing summer fragrances for women since 2014 is a release from Dior where Louise Turner created a true masterpiece for Miss Dior line – Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet!
This perfume literally smells like a blooming bouquet!
It’s sensual, sophisticated, and seductive, and the combination of rose and pink peony is just mind-blowing.
Rose isn’t too aggressive, and musk from the base gives the entire composition smoothness, coziness, and softness, making it absolutely gorgeous.
This masterpiece is probably one of the most popular fragrances on this list and that’s for a reason – it’s extremely mass-appealing and it will get you a ton of compliments.
If you love floral scents, this is a no-brainer, as Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet dominates this category of fragrances since 2014.
4. Jean Paul Gaultier La Belle Fleur Terrible
okes aside, Jean Paul Gaultier recently released their new La Belle flanker, and after testing it I had no other choice but to put it on this list as in my personal opinion, there hasn’t been a better flanker than this one.
La Belle Fleur Terrible has only 3 notes in its notes pyramid – the opening is a water lily, the heart is an iris and the base is vanilla.
In this case, vanilla has nothing to do with sweetness but with the smoothness of aquatic notes of water lily and powdery notes of iris.
That’s exactly, how this fragrance can be described – aquatic and powdery.
It has a somewhat beachy feel, but in general, La Belle Fleur Terrible is a beautifully clean, and fresh fragrance you can pull off almost anywhere.
The only downside is that not all markets have it, so it might be difficult to find one (which also tells you how wanted and amazing this fragrance is).
5. Mugler Alien Goddess Intense
When Mugler released Alien Goddess Intense, it was clear from the start that this a true year-round fragrance that can endure all weather conditions.
However, after testing it, I believe that it definitely fits the best summer days.
It’s a white floral fragrance where jasmine and jasmine tea dominate the heart of the composition. Base notes are vanilla, benzoin, and cashmere wood which gives the entire composition a cozy, warm, and a bit sensual feel.
That’s the part of the composition that gives it a year-round feel, however, the reason why it fits summer the best is because that coconut in the opening lingers in the background even when opening passes – coconut definitely boosts that creaminess but it also adds that tropical feel to the scent.
It fits perfectly on beach occasions (both day walks or beach nighttime parties) and you can’t go wrong with wearing it for any type of occasion during summer.
One could say that it has that niche perfumery vibe, and it’s true because coconut and jasmine are not the combinations you often see.
Overall, amazing creation by Mugler that can easily become a signature scent for everyone who likes this type of combination.
How To Choose The Best Summer Fragrance For You
If you have no experience with fragrances then all you should do is go and discover new scents and find what you like.
On the other hand, if you already have some experience, first and foremost it’s important what you like and what you don’t like. There are some compromising notes like jasmine and musk which can be presented in a million different forms, but when it comes to unique notes such as oud and rose it’s really important that you know what you like and what you don’t like.
Once you figure that out, you can start exploring this list or do the research on your own.
Things to pay attention to:
Avoid warm spicy scents as they don’t work well with high temperatures
Know what longevity and performance you need your fragrance to have
Know your budget
Figure out where you want to wear it / for which occasion you want it
Once you combine all this data, your choice will come down to 3-5 fragrances.
Bear in mind that it’s impossible to make up the formula for choosing the best summer fragrance for you. The reason for this is that we are different every year — our senses change just like we do. So test, test, test!
Thanks for tuning in, have fun fragrance shopping!!
