We don't have much time left in ''Spooky Season'' so, NOW is the time to check off all of those scary movies to watch.
1. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
Scare Meter 2/10
Where to find: Hulu
This is adapted from the book, and I LOVED it as a child. This one is intended for more of a younger audience but, still a good film for those who don't enjoy super scary movies and want to sleep at night still.
2. Halloweentown
Scare Meter 1/10
Where to find: Disney+
Do I really need to say anything about this one? A CLASSIC, especially for my age group. Go rewatch it and relive your childhood.
3. Scream
Scare Meter 3/10
Where to find: Prime Video
Nothing beats the original, if you have to pick one? Pick this one. How can we forget about that ICONIC intro by Drew Barrymore?!
4. Us
Scare Meter 6/10
Where to find: Netflix
What a unique movie. I've never seen anything with such an intriguing plot. When I first saw this, I truly enjoyed it. It's one of those movies where you can watch it over and over again and see new symbolism and foreshadowing every time. This movie spooked me honestly, the thought of having a evil doppelganger out there? YIKES.
5. Halloween
Scare Meter 6/10
Where to find: Prime Video
I know. We've all seen this 99 times. Well, this is the season to watch it for the 100th. A CLASSIC, you can't have a Halloween movie sesh without it!
6. Hush
Scare Meter 8/10
Where to find: Peacock
Okay, this may be a controversial rating but, home invasion movies? Top fear because it's so realistic. The thought of just being home at the wrong time? Sends shivers down my spine.
7. The Strangers
Scare Meter 9/10
Where to find: Prime Video
Following up on the home invasion style movies. THE STRANGERS. Okay, this is a very close 10/10 for me. This movie still haunts me at night. The infamous line “Because you were home...” gives me literal goosebumps.
8. The Blair Witch Project
Scare Meter 8/10
Where to find: Paramount+
There's not many films out there that make the audience genuinely question reality. But, this is ONE. The acting is simply put, phenomenal, if you've never seen it, this is the season to.
9. The Babadook
Scare Meter 7/10
Where to find: Hulu
The Babadook is on the supernatural side, but, it's scares have purposes. I'm not a fan of paranormal movies with a ton of pointless jump scares or blood. If you want a genuinely good story with the right amound of fright, this is the way to go.
10. Hereditary
Scare Meter 10/10
Where to find: Max
A24 films never make me fail to say ''W-T-F'' It's disturbing to say the least, it's very realistic. The more you watch it the scarier it is. Not to mention the amazing trailer. Some horror movie trailers are notorious for giving too much away. I promise you are NOT prepared if you've only watched the trailer.
Tell us some of your favorite films in the Facebrowser comments and what movies are lined up for your session!
