ACROSTIC JEWELRY uses the first letter of the name of a gemstone to spell a hidden message or word. Here, the word "regard" (the 19th century equivalent to “I adore you”) is spelled using the stones ruby, emerald (actually emerald paste,) garnet, amethyst, ruby, diamond. The ring has an unusual boat-shaped face, and the graduated stones are mounted in closed-back settings.
