  • WITH LONDON HALLMARKS for the year 1839, this early Victorian mourning ring features a hardstone cameo of a funeral urn flanked by black enamel scrolls. The rococo style shank reads "In Memory of" and retains traces of its original black enamel. Some of the lettering along the shank is worn which suggests that this ring has been worn, however, it is undedicated. If mourning jewelry fascinates you but you find the death details of a stranger disconcerting, this might be the piece for you. That said, it would also be wonderful to do as the Victorians did and have the name of someone dearly departed engraved along the interior.
